Rutgers 3rd on the Potomac 4/26/2009
The Rutgers Varsity 8 finished 3rd behind George Washington and Georgetown Universities in a 2000 meter race held on the Potomac River in Washington, DC.
The conditions on the course were flat with a tail current. The three crews were fairly even for the first quarter of the race until GW pushed out to lead by half a length at the half way point. GW slowly stretched their lead to win by a length over Georgetown with Rutgers another length back. GW also won the 2nd Varsity and 2nd Freshmen events while Georgetown won the freshmen race.
Rutgers’ next race will be in two weeks, on Sunday, May 10, when they compete at the EARC Sprint Championships on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, MA.
